I. Mission
China’s five-thousand-year-old civilization contains countless treasures, and
its fifty-six ethnic groups each have their own unique customs and dances, which
are like colorful flowers blossoming on the land of China. The 2008 Beijing
Olympics are an occasion for China to display its unique oriental wonders to the
world. Seizing this grand opportunity, to allow even more people to understand
the culture of China’s many ethnic groups and appreciate each group’s individual
style of dance, to broaden the influence of Chinese culture overseas, and at the
same time to promote unity among ethnicities and display the warm regards of
overseas students to their motherland, the OSU China Oriental Folk Dance Team
will, on April 20, 2008, at OSU, hold a large-scale folk dance performance,
titled “Color of Spring—The OSU China Oriental Dance Team Fifth Anniversary
Recital”. This event is also an important part of the CSSS@OSU Series of
Olympics in Beijing celebratory activities.
II. Main Coordinators
1. OSU China Oriental Folk Dance Team
The OSU China Oriental Folk Dance Team was founded in 2003. It has approximately
20 current members, most of whom are among OSU’s Chinese students, scholars and
alumni. From the team’s founding, the members have practiced assiduously, and
have annually participated in such performing arts events as the CSSS Mid-Autumn
and Spring Festival Performances, Columbus Art Festivals, Columbus Asian
Festival, Columbus International Festival, Taste of OSU，etc, successfully
demonstrating and propagating the unique charm of each ethnic group.

一． 宗旨
中华民族5000年的文明蕴藏了无数的文化瑰宝，56个民族都有着自己独特的风俗和舞蹈，成为中华大地上的一朵朵奇葩。2008北京奥运会是个中国向世界展现自己独特东方魅力的窗口，借此良机，为了让更多的人了解中国的多民族文化，欣赏到各民族独具风情的舞蹈，扩大中华文明在海外的影响力；同时促进民族团结，展现海外学子心系祖国的一片热诚，OSU东方民族舞蹈队
（China Oriental Fork Dance Team @ OSU）和CSSS@OSU
将于2008年4月20日在OSU举行名为“幻彩霓裳-中国民族舞蹈专场演出，即 OSU东方民族舞蹈队成立五周年汇报演出”的大型民族舞蹈演出。

1. OSU东方民族舞蹈队（OSU China Oriental Fork Dance Team）
OSU东方民族舞蹈队创建于2003年，目前有成员20人左右，绝大部分来自于OSU的中国学生和学者。建队以来，队员们刻苦练习，每年参加了包括CSSS组织的中秋及春节晚会，哥伦布亚洲节，哥伦布国际节，哥伦布美术艺术节,
Taste of OSU等各大文艺演出，成功的展示并宣传了中国各民族独特的魅力。
