Dear Students and Scholars,
Did you join the last few CSSS activities and events? Do you have any idea on making them better, or you even wanna do that with your own effort?
We have more activities and events for the coming year, big ones like Karaoke contest, Dance Party, 2008 New Year Celebration Party, Chinese Culture and Tradition Festival, and many others. The most recent one will be the Mid-Autumn Party (700 attendance estimated) on Sept. 30 (Sunday). Rehearsal will be on Sept. 23 (Sunday).
You will have chances to be Project Leader (PL) to organize CSSS activities (like Qian Ye did for Newcomer Party, all other committee members will support you), and join the preparation for big events like New Year Celebration Party (1500 attendance estimated for this year).
Interested? Please send an email to csss AT osu.edu, titled "Join CSSS Committee". And tell us a little bit about your suggestions for the past CSSS activities, your thinking about future CSSS events, and your experience in doing activities, in addition to your name and major for sure.
We are looking for the PASSION. Don't hesitate to join us if you possess it!

Hi everyone,
Are you a new student? Not knowing enough about this new environment?
Are you a senior student? Wanna make some new friends? Or exhausted after one-week work?
Join us! CSSS is going to hold a Newcomer Welcome Party in this Friday night.

Dear Everyone,
CSSS@OSU is going to hold a Newcomer Welcome BBQ this Saturday (Sept 15) in UV. (Not Sunday. We changed the date again to avoid conflict with IFI's welcome potluck dinner on Sunday)
For Newcomers, It is a good chance to know new friends (now there are already about 50 people registered), and to learn experience from senior students;
For Senior Students, it is a good chance for you to know our new friends (there are about 270 Chinese newcomers this year), and to mingle with them. Please visit our BBQ registration webpage ( http://csssosu.org/reg/2007_newcomer_bbq/) for further information.

CSSS举办的周末电影活动又和大家见面了。这周末我们为大家安排了由侯孝贤导演，梁朝伟，刘嘉玲，李嘉欣主演的《海上花》。十九世纪末期的中国，内忧外患。而上海的青楼里每日上演着酒宴中的嬉笑怒骂，倌人与客人间的真假情谊；红牌倌人(妓女)之间的明争暗斗。散席了，安静了，歌舞升平的景况稍纵便成过眼烟云，唯有摇曳的烛光映照出古旧家具的昏黄影子，默然的回味曾经的繁华。

为了帮助刚刚到达Columbus的新生朋友们解决购买日常必需品的燃眉之急，CSSS将组织“超市大采购”活动，组织接送新生去中国超市东鑫或东方超市，和美国超市Walmart：

地点：UV leasing office 门口集合，等到12:15PM，然后出发

亲爱的新生朋友们，
欢迎大家来到OSU! 这是一所全美运动名校，也是全美最大的大学！
在这夏季学期刚刚结束时，我们依依不舍得送走了一批老朋友，也很高兴能够迎接和结识你们这些新朋友们。相信你们中的一些朋友已经抵达Columbus，忙于各种报道手续和搬入新房，有些人还在国内打点行装准备登上赴美的航班。大家都在兴奋和忙碌中度过自己人生最有意义也是最难忘的一段时光。但是请不要忘记，不论你们在何时何地，忙于何事，我们，OSU中国学生学者联谊会（CSSS），随时都在准备着帮助你们。同时我们准备了丰富的活动，也希望能够帮助你们尽快融入OSU的学习生活中。
在9月份，我们为新生朋友们准备了如下活动（注意：有些需要预先报名）：
1. 新生大烧烤。Sep 9 (周日) 4-7pm UV（university village）游泳池边。认识朋友+熟悉环境。费用$2/人，现场收取。届时会邀请老生来交流经验。如果当天下雨，活动将取消。请注意查收电邮通知。活动地址，活动介绍，交通，以及预先报名请点击链接 ( http://csssosu.org/reg/2007_newcomer_bbq/ )。

3. 中秋晚会。 Sep 30 (周日) 7-10pm Hitchcock Hall, Room 131 ( http://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=274 ， UV BUS和公交7路均可方便到达) - 大型的综合晚会，有各种节目表演。是中国留学生们展示自己才艺的大舞台。我们也热切盼望新生们将会在这个晚会上展示出自己的风采。

4. 超市大采购。9月的每一个周日中午12点（9/2，9/9，9/16，9/23，9/30） UV leasing office 门口，505 Harley Dr。尽管UV边上有Kroger和Biglots这2家很实用的超市，但是规模都不够大。如果你们发现有些东西买不到并苦于找不到朋友接送，我们将组织接送去中国超市东鑫或东方超市，和美国超市Walmart。网上预先报名和相关信息请登陆 http://csssosu.org/reg/2007_shopping/ 。

亲爱的学生学者及家属朋友们，
象征着家庭团圆和睦的中国传统节日-中秋佳节，即将来临。为了给OSU的中国学生学者和家属，以及Columbus的华人呈现一台精彩的中秋晚会，本届学生会特此征集所有能人猛士加入这台晚会的筹备工作。学生会希望能够借此机会为喜爱演出的同学们搭建一个展示自己才艺的舞台。我们欢迎所有喜欢演出的同学们踏上这个舞台，SHOW出你的光芒！
这里我们也将特别征集：
1．中秋晚会主持人，男女各一名。
2．会民族乐器或西洋乐器的同学。例如：钢琴，小提琴，长笛等；竹笛，中阮，琶琶，古筝等。此外，会口琴，吉他者。
3．我们也特别希望有喜欢小品，相声或舞台剧创作的同学, 以及在诗歌创作和朗诵方面有特长的同学能够加入我们。
4. 此外，在计算机多媒体软件应用方面感兴趣的同学以及在舞台设计方面有创意和想法的同学也请和我们联系。

大家好！ CSSS举办的周末电影活动又和大家见面了。
由于很多同学的反映，周五晚上的一些活动或者买菜，与电影时间冲突，我们决定把电影放映时间改在周六晚上七点半，地点不变。
另外也有一些同学觉得一次看两部电影过于疲劳，我们以后一次只放一部电影，放映开始时间提前半小时。敬请留意。

这周末我们为大家安排了一部台湾校园青春片《蓝色大门》。这是一部我个人很喜欢的关于青春的电影。清新，纯净，还带着一点的苦涩。第一次看这部电影是在研究生二年级，当时被现实生活搞得身心疲惫。偶然在朋友那里看到这部片子，忽然觉得青春是如此宝贵，不舍得让它就在我们迟疑的瞬间这样轻易的溜走。希望你也会喜欢这部片子。

2007 年俄亥俄州立大学“CSSS夏季乒乓球锦标赛”于8月4日下午六时圆满落下帷幕。OSU中国学生学者联合会在此感谢所有参加本次比赛的同学和国际友人，是你们的完美表现让本届乒乓球锦标赛精彩纷呈，动人心弦; 并对组织本次比赛的林源, Min Li, 葛中琦, 谈恩华和陈科同学表示衷心感谢。
本次比赛云集了36名哥城乒坛各路高手，包括前哥城“16强锦标赛”冠亚军、 “CSSS锦标赛”冠亚军以及大部分哥城乒坛宿将。比赛紧张激烈，代表了哥城华人乒坛最高水平。
28人参加的男单比赛竞争惨烈，扣人心弦。从1/4决赛开始，精彩不断，很多场次的胜负都在最后才决出。哥城乒坛新星Lifeng Sang在与谢希鹏的激烈角逐中，在决胜局以2分的微弱优势跻身4强。来自重庆高校教师乒球好手唐伟胜在1/4决赛中艰难击败哥城乒坛宿将 Xiaoning He，但在半决赛中决胜局以2分之差负于日本友人、本田公司驻俄州总裁Tadao Iniu，最终获得第3名。前哥城“华人16强锦标赛”冠军Alex Zuo在半决赛中，在先胜2局的情况下，遭到Lifeng Sang顽强反击被连扳2局，关键的第5局在4：8落后的情况下，神奇般地连拿7分，实现大翻盘，显示了超强心理素质和雄厚实力，随后在与Tadao Iniu的决赛中又一鼓作气，轻松卫冕，第6次赢得了哥城华人冠军。
在Mixed Doubles比赛中，谢希鹏/Sandy Sun精诚合作，力克一号种子Sunny Sun/Alex Zuo及强大的Lifeng Sang/Yuan Zhang，问鼎冠军。在Co-ed doubles比赛中，Sunny and Sandy Sun经过五局苦战，险胜头号种子、夺标呼声最高的谢希鹏/Alex Zuo，以及Hongbin Liu/Tadao Iniu，夺得冠军。在女单比赛中，Sandy Sun两面弧圈，势如破竹，第4次卫冕冠军。
值得一提的是，本次比赛涌现出了众多颇具潜质的选手。Hongbin Liu的犀利推挡，Jinglin Qin的直板快攻，Jian Zhou 的远台反攻，Sunny Sun的反手快拨，Yuan Zhang的正手快攻，Min Li的多变发球，Hongyuan Li的顽强防守，Hongtao Zhang的正手强攻，Yuanyuan Zhou的大力扣杀，Gang Ren的勇往直前，让观众大饱眼福，显示了哥城乒坛的巨大潜力。

本次比赛由CSSS主办，得到了OSU乒协的大力协助，取得圆满成功。

CSSS 2007 Summer Table Tennis Tournament was successfully held on August 4 th. Chinese Student & Scholar Society would like to thank all the 36 players for coming and performing such a wonderful game. Special thanks go to Xipeng Xie, Alex Zuo, Yuan Lin, Min Li, Zhongqi Ge, Enhua Tan, and Ke Chen for their organizing this tournament; and to several Japanese and Italian players, Tadao, Pierluigi and Goma, whose wonderful performance made this tournament a real international game.

CSSS举办的周末电影活动又和大家见面了。今年是香港回归十周年，在这个周末我们为大家安排了两部反映香港历史变迁的喜剧片：由黄秋生主演的《老港正传》和由吴君如主演的《金鸡》。这两部电影从小人物的视角出发，把香港最近几十年的历史投影为个人生活的辛酸苦辣，令人回味。欢迎大家前来观看。

大家好！
CSSS举办的周末电影活动又和大家见面了。首先向大家通知由于上次有些同学反映座椅不够舒适，这次我们放映地点换到了Mendenhall Lab 100，请留意。
这周末我们为大家安排了台湾电影导演杨德昌的作品《一一》。很久以前就计划好这次放映，不想上周末竟传来杨德昌先生去世的消息，享年六十，可怜可叹。这次放映就算是对大师的追忆吧。《一一》是杨德昌导演2000年的作品，也是最后一部，当时拿到了嘎纳电影节最佳导演奖。这部电影人物众多，娓娓道来，也许开始您会觉得节奏有一点慢，不过接下来可能就会陷在情节里不能自拔。这绝对是一部值得欣赏的大师之作。在我看来，《一一》是近十年以来华语片中最好的现实题材作品，欢迎大家前来观看。
由于这部电影时长近三个小时，所以这周末只能为大家放映一部电影，请谅解。另外，我们仍将提供免费饮料。

[edit] CSSS Movie Night in This Final Week - June 8, 2007
Dear All,
Finished Finals? Wanna have a rest? Come with your friends to our Friday Movie Night!
Two Movies will be shown this Friday. First one is newly released in 2007 - Protégé. Second one is a classic one - The Longest Nite (1997). Refer to the attachment for detailed information.
The location is CHANGED to Dreese Lab (Campus Building 279, http://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=279), Rm 113. Movies will begin at 7:00pm, this Friday (June 8th). Drink will be provided for early birds.
CSSS committee is always willing to take your suggestions either through email (sug4csssosu AT gmail.com) or through our BBS (http://bbs.csssosu.org).

Dear ALL,
Movie Night is COMING BACK!!!
Are you Tired of Midterms?? ...Bored with preparing for the Finals?? ...Missing Chinese Movies?? ...Wanna hang out with friends?? ...Or even only wanna meet new friends??
Just come to Hitchcock Hall 131 (Campus Building 274) this Friday (May 25). Two Great movies will be there ready for you from 7:00pm to about 10:30pm. They are "The Postmodern Life of My Aunt"(2007) and "The Personals"(1998). Please find the detailed information in the attachment.
Hitchcock Hall 131 is a big and nicely furnished room with comfortable seats and big screen. Beverage will be also provided free for early birds.
ALSO please NOTE. As scheduled, "Movies Night" will be a biweekly CSSS activity. You may schedule your time in advance and plan to come in the future.

各位学生学者及家属,
首先感谢大家对学生会工作的支持和关心，也非常感谢大家对昨晚学生会换届选举的积极参与。你们投出的每一票都凝聚了你们的关心和对学生会工作未来发展的殷切期望。作为新上任的学生会主席团，我们对大家表示诚挚的谢意，并期待着大家能一直关心并督促学生会的工作，让我们一起把学生会的工作做得更好。
另外我也要特别感谢昨晚的另一组竞选团队潘洋，赵闻晨和雍杰。你们的对来年工作的计划给于了我们很多启发和思考。我们也将积极采纳你们的想法，以后也将虚心听取你们的建议。我相信我们的共同目标都是一致的，所以我们的竞争是朋友间的竞争，这也是促进工作进步的法宝。我们也请你们在来年时刻督促我们。
这里我们也要感谢一直支持我们团队，帮助我们团队的所有朋友们。是你们坚定的支持和鼓励的目光让我们顺利排除了竞选过程中的各种困难，一直坚持，并取得最后的成功。但是对于我们三人团队以及未来的执委会，更多的挑战及更多的困难将会在来年的工作中等待着我们，所以也请你们继续支持我们，鼓励我们，同时用你们友善但又犀利的目光监督我们。也请相信我们会用更多更好的活动与服务来回报你们的关心和支持。
最后，我们三人团队也殷切地希望得到更多同学的理解和支持。就像我们昨晚所提到的，学生会工作最难的是与广大学生学者们的交流和沟通以及得到大家的理解和支持。最好的工作是OSU中国学生学者及家属们最满意的工作。希望大家积极与我们联系，我们将随时倾听你们的意见和建议。在我们昨晚承诺的意见信箱没有设立之前，欢迎大家随时发邮件到陈科的信箱（chen.1207 AT osu.edu）或者到csss AT osu.edu。

Invitation Letter and Flyer
Dear All,
CSSS will be hosting a DANCE PARTY on Saturday, March 31 from 7:30pm to 11pm. The dancing will be mainly club dancing, so you do not really need to know how to dance. Just go with the rhythm of the music.
The party will be held on campus - South Room of the Royer Student Activities Center, which is right to the south of Jones Tower. It is a newly decorated ballroom with a wooden floor in the center for dancing, and sofa and chairs around. It is very close to the bus stop. There will be free refreshments, fun games, Karaoke, lucky draw, and most importantly - DANCING!! And there will be NO admission fee at all.
This dance party is meant to allow Chinese students to relax and have a good time. So come out and have fun at the beginning of the quarter, and prepare well for the harsh study and research. The dance party is also a good chance for social networking ? come and make more friends here.
So why not invite your friends to come along with you, dancing to a mix of popular and hot tunes? The music is just for you… Come and shake your body! There is no age limit and no admission fee. All we have is music, dancing, and FUN!
Date and Time: Saturday, March 31 from 7:30pm to 11pm

Admission: No Admission fee
Dance Style: Mainly club dancing

Transportation: Rides home will be available for those living in Buckeye Village, University Village, or other places close to BV and UV.

2007俄州哥城华人春节联欢晚会

简述:
每年由OSU中国学生学者联合会与美中科协主办. 是俄州哥城地区规模最大, 影响最深的华人春节联欢晚会. 每年的观众都在800到1000人之间. 晚会对俄州所有的华人和对中国文化感兴趣的国际友人免费开放. 参与演出和协办的单位包括: 俄州中文学校, 俄州中文教会, OCA哥城分会, OSU东方民族舞蹈团, OSU东亚研究中心, OSU戏剧社, OSU武术队, 俄州华夏艺术团, 其他部分大学的中国学生学者联合会, 浙江大学校友会, 以及一些美国当地的学生演出团体和专业乐团.
