[edit] 2009 CSSS Presidential Election Result - May 10, 2009
大家好，
上周五（5月8日）下午4点半，CSSS在Knowlton Hall 250（KN250）举行了2009年主席团选举。参选团队为聂小凡、陈盛博、陈晓东团队和徐巍、刘天博、张磊磊团队。
现场总共发放选票386张，收回选票383张，收回选票数少于发出选票数，选举结果有效。据统计，聂小凡团队获得265票，徐巍团队获得117票，另有一票弃权。经选举委员会批准，宣布聂小凡团队赢得此次选举！选举委员会对他们的成功表示最热烈的祝贺！
2008～2009学生会执委会至此正式终止运作。前主席刘一帆代表上届执委会对大家在过去一年里对学生会工作的支持表示最诚挚的感谢！聂小凡团队将于近期完成新一届学生会执委会组建，并正式开始新一年度工作。希望他们在下一年度努力工作，更好的为全体中国同学服务。也希望大家能够继续支持他们的工作，共同把学生会的活动办好！

Dear All Chinese Students and Scholars,
We everyone must be so sad to hear about the horrible earthquake happened last night in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. Bless all people in Sichuan and neighboring provinces. Hope they could be safe and receive proper help on time. We also wish everything is fine with the families and friends of any of you from Sichuan!
Even though we are far away from the victims, we believe we COULD and SHOULD try our best to make effort to help them. We have collected following donation information for you, and call for donation for those victims. Chinese Students and Scholars Society (CSSS@OSU) would also like to help to collect donation if you feel it is more convenient.

[edit] "2008 Olympics, Impression in China" Photo Exhibition (Apr 21 - May 9, 2008)
Dear All,
As a part of series events for celebrating Beijing Olympics held by CSSS@OSU along with other 15 organizations and departments, a photography exhibition about Olympics and China will be launched by Photography and Cinema Club @ OSU and CSSS@OSU.
Over 170 photos are selected to display on campus, which are taken in China by amateur and professional photographers after 2000, also some of them are contributed by our OSU Chinese students. Don't forget to bring you friends to stop by, it is a good chance to feel Olympics, Nature and Culture of current China.

Dear Friends,
I am pleased to invite you to join the OSU China Oriental Folk Dance Team Fifth Anniversary Recital on April 20, 2008 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, at Weigel Hall auditorium on OSU campus.
As an important part of "Celebrate Beijing Olympics In Ohio", the dance recital features on folk dances from different Chinese ethnic groups, including Han, Tibetan, Uighur, Korean, Yi, Dai, Mongol, Va and Classical Chinese dances.

这次晚会节目类型多样，内容新颖独特，是一场结合传统与现代，东方与西方，经典与流行的娱乐大餐。相声小品，京剧联唱，民族舞蹈，音乐短剧，hip-hop舞蹈，定会让您惊喜不断。届时请加入我们，让我们一起来欢度我们华人自己的节日吧！

[edit] CSSS Calls for Donations for the Snowstorm Victims in the South of China - Feb 5, 2008
亲爱的各位学生、学者：
相信大家都已经听说了1月中旬以来我国南部严重雪灾。截至1月29日，雪灾天气已对安徽，湖南，河南等17个省份造成了严重影响。农作物受灾面积1.01亿亩；倒塌房屋14.9万间，损坏房屋60.2万间；直接经济损失326.7亿元；紧急转移安置161.7万人；因灾死亡人数升至38人。（数据摘自新华网）许多地区断水断电，没有暖气，交通大面积瘫痪。
身在国外，心系乡亲！这些触目惊心的数字牵动着我们远在异乡的游子。我们许多的学生学者都希望能为国内抗击自然灾害出一分力。中国学生学者联谊会（CSSS@OSU）在响应大家号召的同时，也呼吁更多的朋友能加入捐助的队伍，为灾区捐款，为灾区出一份力。

[edit] First CSSS/ACSA Table Tennis Tournament: Report and Pictures - Jan 13, 2008
ACSA(美中体协)和CSSS一起于2008年1月12号在Columbus Table Tennis Club 举办了第一界ACSA/CSSS杯乒乓球团体邀请赛。来自columbus各界的17支球队，70余名乒球高手同场竞技，切磋球艺，奋力争夺专业A组，业余B组和女子组的三项冠军。
本次比赛OSU派出了5只球队参加了专业A组和业余B组的比赛。他们齐心协力，相互鼓劲，最终分别由桑立峰 左力 唐达伦 葛无 组成的OSU-狼队和张东清 李凯乐 张海峰领衔的OSU-particle队夺得了专业A组和业余B组的冠军。其余的3支球队也都获得了前四名的好成绩。由OSU乒协主力组成的OSU-狼队充分表现了他们在比赛中求胜的狼性，在A组决赛中，他们与李健领衔的CTTC（Columbus Table Tennis Club）会员队狭路相逢，展开了激烈的角逐。在大比分2：1后，关键的第四轮比赛中，双方的头号种子，左力和李健，如观众期盼中的那样共同奉献了一场精彩的巅峰对决。双方在战成1：1后再次战平。决胜的第五局打到了9：10后，李健下旋球发到对手正手位，左力顺势垫回中路，李健侧身抢拉弧圈出界，将OSU-狼队送上了冠军宝座。在B组另一场冠军争夺战中，OSU-particle队以3：1有惊无险的战胜了CAS（Chemical Abstract Society）老虎队.来自OSU牙医学院同一实验室的OSU-口腔生物队，在小组赛中杀出血路晋级决赛并最终拿到A组第4名。此外，获得B组第四名的OSU-Crystal队的主力则是07年下半年才刚来OSU的新生们，他们的表演给我们留下了深刻的印象。值得一提的还有OSU-Snoopy 队，她们的主力竟是三名俊俏的OSU女生，她们并没有参加女子组的比赛而是加入了男性占优的B组。在比赛中，她们不畏强敌，以小组第一的身份昂首出现，展示了OSU女生的清新魅力。
OSU球队在本次比赛中的胜利再次证明了我们在columbus华人社区体育竞技中的优势，也为CSSS今年的一系列体育赛事，尤其是春季的第一届俄亥俄州华人足球联赛，开了一个好头。我们谨此向所有获奖的球队和参赛的球员们表示感谢。GO BUCKS！WE ARE THE BEST！

[edit] 2007 CSSS Karaoke contest results, Tuesday, Nov 27, 2007 CSSS卡拉OK大赛结果揭晓
2007年11月25日下午四点，2007年度CSSS卡拉OK大赛在Hitchcock Hall 131拉开帷幕。本次大赛共吸引了30名参赛歌手，是历年以来卡拉OK大赛参赛最多的一次。他们有7岁的小学生，也有本科生，研究生，以及已经在哥伦布工作的人士。歌手们尽情歌唱，粉丝团也是热情高涨。大家在欣赏选手们精彩演出的同时，也尽兴的享受了游戏的精彩纷呈。歌手们的尽情演绎，粉丝团的呐喊助威，为这个愉快的夜晚编织了最美好的记忆。

Dear all,
It is time for Karaoke! CSSS@OSU present -- 2007 CSSS Karaoke Contest. Here are some highlights:
- Choose from 18,000 MTV songs.
For a list of Karaoke songs we have, please visit: [CSSS KaraOK Song List (813KB)] (You can open .CSV file using Microsoft EXCEL.)
- Vote for your favorite singer and win prize.
- Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer, Best Singing Performance, Best Stage Presence, and Audience’s Favorite Singer.
- FREE drinks, FREE fun!!
Time: Preliminary: 4:30pm, Sunday, November 25, 2007 (Could be canceled if there were fewer than 15 contestants. Contestants only need to sing half of their songs.) Final: 7:00pm, Sunday, November 25, 2007

Hi Everyone,
CSSS will hold a cooking contest on this coming Sunday(Veteran's day) and we are very glad to invite you, together with your friends and family, to join us in this very fun contest and potluck. The detailed information is as follow
CSSS Cooking Contest & Grand Potluck.
Time: Nov 11th (Sun), 2-5pm Location: Old Recreation Center in Buckeye Village (Next to BV community center, 2724 Defiance Dr.) Cooking Contest related information
- Rules: This contest has two rounds: 1st round: participants prepare a dish at home and bring it to site; 2nd round: top 6 rated cooks are selected to cook another dish on-site for judges and audiences. The final score is only based on the 2 nd round score.
- Prizes: The top-rated winner will cheerfully get a $50 Wal-Mart gift card and each of two runner-ups is gifted with a $30 Chinese Restaurants' Consumption Card. Everyone in final round has the opportunity to win special prizes.
- Judges: The judge board consists of professional Chef from Panda Inn Restaurant, Nutritional Specialist, Cuisine book writer, well-known student cooks and CSSS members (for all, if you are interested, please sign the attached "JUDGE" form and send it to cookcontestcsss@gmail.com.)
- Sing Up: please fill the "CONTESTANT" form attached and send it to cookcontestcsss@gmail.com . The registration deadline is Saturday, November 10th!
For all the Chinese students and scholars, you are also invited to join in our Grand Potluck on that day! Grand Potluck related information
- IFI would like to show us how to cook traditional American food on-site!!! Especially food for the coming Thanksgiving.
- You also have a chance to taste the Special Recommended Dishes from famous Columbus Chinese restaurants.
- CSSS committee members will also bring their own unique dishes.

[edit] SLAMDUNK 3 v 3 Basketball Tournament - Nov 4, 2007
Hi Everyone,
This is a reminder that CSSS, along with UCSO, is hosting its first ever SLAMDUNK 3 v 3 Basketball Tournament at the RPAC Upper Gym on Sunday November 4 th (11:30AM-3:00PM).
NOTE!! As many of you requested, there will be additional Shooting contest for both guys and girls. Guys shoot from the 3-point line and girls shoot from the free throw line. Each person gets 10 shots, winner will take home a cool prize. Shooting contest will begin at 1:00pm. DONT be late!!
Everyone is welcome (guys and girls); there is a $10 entry fee for each male team and girls play for FREEEE!!! The First Place Team gets $100 cash prize; and $50 for the runner-up. The registration deadline has been extended to this Saturday , November 3rd!
This is a great opportunity for everyone who loves basketball to take a break from school, meet new friends and have a good time. Hope many of you will come out and show your support for this special event.
The tentative tournament format will be double-elimination (winners bracket vs losers bracket); 20 min games; first team to 20 points wins. This format is subjected to change depending on the tournament field. A follow-up email will be send to registered teams with the finalized tournament rules.
